Established in 1990, FlashPaws Agility Training Center is one of the
nation's most well-known and successful agility training organizations. We are not a
club - we are a private training school with highly skilled instructors and a
carefully planned curriculum. Our instructional staff is dedicated to helping our students
reach their highest potential in the agility ring, while having a wonderful time with
their dogs.Our staff consists of top-winning masters-level
agility trainers/competitors and agility judges, directed by Jane Simmons-Moake,
award-winning author of many agility training books and instructional videos A
popular seminar leader in North America, South America, and Asia, Jane has also competed
internationally as a member of the 1996 and 1997 U.S. World Championship Agility Teams, and was the 20" National Champion at the 2006 AKC Agility Invitational.
FlashPaws is extremely proud of the large number of agility titles earned each year by our students (click here) and by the incredible number of Championship titles earned since the school's inception (click here).
Training is conducted using competition equipment as
well as special beginning equipment. Our classes are held in a well-lit, outdoor,
packed-dirt arena that provides a safe, low-impact jumping surface. What's more,
class size is strictly limited to ensure individual attention at all levels.
FlashPaws students at all levels arrive at class to find all
equipment in place and ready for the day's lesson. Students are never asked to set up
or move equipment before, during, or after class, so all of their time at FlashPaws is
spent in productive training.
At FlashPaws, we assume that all of our students will
eventually want to compete - and will want to do well in competition. We have found
that this is most often the case. To this end, we train all of our students with
competitive standards in mind from the very start, so that no retraining will be necessary
when and if they decide they want to compete. Dogs that are retrained are rarely as
reliable or as fast as those who were trained with high standards from the start. By
eliminating the need to retrain, our students are ready to compete and earn titles faster
than if they had started with a more casual training philosophy. Besides focusing on
smooth excellence from the start, FlashPaws training methods:
- Emphasize skill building to isolate and train essential dog and
handler skills.
- Place early emphasis on distance handling to take advantage of the
dog's speed.
- Result in competitive success for people of all ages, shapes, and
sizes.
- Are motivational and fun for dog and handler!
